Rec Gymnastics Program Information

We have a wide variety of recreational & competitive programs available for children ages 6 months to 17 years old. When students are 5 years or younger, we place them into classes based on their age due to the differences in physical & mental development stages in athletes. Once the athlete turns 6 years old, they are able to move to our large floor with athletes of ages 6 & older & the class they are in is then based on skill level.

Lil Movers
Mighty Movers
6 months - 1 years & 11 months, 30 minutes

Parent Participation Required

Social Skills Focus:

  • Baby’s first socialization

  • Parent/Baby Bonding

  • Sensory integration and exploration 

Physical Skill Focus

  • Bar hang (with parent’s help)

  • Crawling on/over beam

  • Crawling/Walking/Running up cheese mat

  • Jumping on/off springboard

Ages 2 - 2 years & 11 months, 30 minutes

  • Problem Solving

  • Gross and Fine Motor Development

  • Fitness Introduction

Physical Skill Focus

  • Hanging on bar by themselves

  • Bringing toes up to bar

  • Walking on beam (with/without parent help)

  • Log rolling down cheese mat

  • Jumping on/off springboard and mats

  • Crawling on top of bars (optional depending on child)

Cruisers
Ages 3 - 3 years & 11 months, 30 minutes

Social Skill Focus

  • Gross and fine motor development 

  • Fitness introduction

  • Mental focus

  • Self-esteem, confidence, and goal setting 

  • Preschool educational concepts 

 

Physical Skill Focus

  • Forward rolls

  • Beginner Handstands on wall cheese

  • Beginner Cartwheels on Mat

  • Walking feet up wall while holding bar (Pullover Progression)

  • Holding themselves up on top of bar (front support hold)

  • Walking on higher beam

    • Jumping over objects on floor beam

  • Running and jumping off springboard

Climbers
Ages 4 - 4 years & 11 months, 40 minutes

Social Skill Focus

  • fitness/strength introduction

  • Independent listening skills 

  • Self-esteem, confidence, and goal setting 

  • Preschool educational concepts 

  • Basic gymnastics concepts/ skills 

Physical Skill Focus

  • Backward rolls

  • Handstands

  • Forward rolls off of bar

  • Walking on tip toes on beam

Jumpers
Ages 5 - 5 years & 11 months, 40 minutes

Social Skill Focus

  • Skill development is enhanced 

  • Preschool educational concepts 

  • Basic gymnastics concepts/skills 

  • Introduction to the big side of the gym

  • Introduction to standardized gymnastics equipment

  • Skills observed and evaluated to determine next step

  • Path analyzed and determined for after preschool graduation 

Physical Skill Focus

  • Forward rolls on floor beam

  • Forward rolls off bar

  • Assisted pullovers on bar

  • Jumps on higher beams

  • Levers on beam (Handstand progression)

  • Dance Elements (turns/ leaps/chasses)

  • Jump Dismounts off beam

Boys & Girls Ages 5 & Under

Boys & Girls Ages 6+

Intro 1

  • Kids will learn:

    • Basic staple skills and vocabulary for all events to build a solid foundation in gymnastics such as levers\basic handstand and cartwheel progressions, vault running, punching and arm swing basics.

  • Getting comfortable on equipment such as beams and bars

  • Proper terminology and names of important skills, positions and equipment

  • Getting familiar with class structure 

  • Getting introduced to basic strength/ flexibility training 

  • Move ups happen every 3 months and are based off of their star charts

  • 15 minute warm up rotation (we often play warm up games) and 2 20 minute rotations on other events (including low beam, low bar, vault, floor, rod/tumble track)

Intro 2 (invite only)
  • Builds off of intro 1’s established knowledge/understanding of both skills and vocabulary 

  • Adding the next progressions/steps to the previously introduced basics and mastering their introductory skills 

    • mastering handstands/cartwheels moving toward round offs, and bridge kick over progressions, putting basic floor skills on the beams

  • Beginning to focus more on strength/flexibility and technique 

  • 15 minute warm up rotation (we often play warm up games) and 2 20 minute rotations on other events (including low beam, low bar, vault, floor, rod/tumble track) 

  • Move ups happen every 3 months and are based off of their star charts, when intro 2s graduate into intermediate 1 they receive a bag at the ceremony 

Intermediate 1 (invite only)

  • Expectations for strength, discipline, technique, flexibility and knowledge of skills/terminology are much higher in this level 

  • Move ups happen every 3 months and are based off of their star charts

  • We want to recommend multiple days at every level, I would suggest saying at this level we highly encourage a 2nd day to be added to help continual progress of the athlete. 

Top Dog (invite only)
  • 2 hours, strongly encouraged to sign up for 2 days a week 

  • Goal oriented, no more star charts

    • Goals are tracked in Top Dog goal journal, they are set/updated monthly, & tracked weekly 

  • Goal journals are free move up gift, they are kept in the gym 

  • Even higher expectations for discipline, strength, flexibility, technique and overall knowledge of skills, equipment, terminology

  • There is no level limit to this class, once you meet the requirements to get here, you are free to progress as far and as fast as you can!

  • Top Dog’s have exclusive practice Leo’s, that should be brought up with every top dog enrollment

  • Class to be if not wanting to compete, but wanting to get team atmosphere and continue progressing, anyone interested in competing should not enter this level and be directed to the competitive program instead

Boys Beginning

  • Works strength, discipline, technique and body awareness

  • Introduces basic staple skills to build a solid foundation in gymnastics 

  • Like handstands, cartwheels, pull overs, front supports on rings, swings on parallel bars, punching/arm swinging on vault

  • 15 minute warm up, 2 20 minute rotations on other events (including rig-where we have parallel bars and rings,-  high bars, mushroom, floor, vault) 

  • Move ups done every 3 months based on star charts

  • Works lots of strength and technique 

  • Expectations for discipline and body awareness have gone way up for this level 

  • 15 minute warm up, 2 20 minute rotations on other events (including rig-where we have parallel bars and rings,-  high bars, mushroom, floor, vault)

Rockets (boys only)
Ages 5 - 5 years & 11 months, 40 minutes
  • For our aspiring young male gymnasts

  • Our male athletes will get a feel of boy's gymnastics before they embark on their gymnastics journey through our school aged boys' program.

  • Rockets will be able to go on male gymnastics events on the big side of the gym while still experiencing the educational benefits from our preschool gym.

  • We will work on progressions for the mushroom, pommel horse, vault, rings, and p-bars!
